Alex Rodriguez and Steroids!!

I was going to go to bed but I started to read a blog and someone was complaining that Alex Rodriguez was not convincing enough about not doing steroids.

So I felt the need to blog something about this subject.

First off I am a fan of Baseball period. I am especially a fan of Yankee Baseball on top of that. But, I do think this steroid talk is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo O-L-D!!!!!!!!!!!! Can we please give this shit a rest?

At the time A-Rod tested for steroids so did about 103 other players. Yes, that's right 103 other players who were not named recently. They were not named recently because the report was to not meant to get out to the public. First off you can say what you want about A-Rod. I know a lot of people are quick to do so anyway. But this was obviously an attempt to put him in yet another negative light.

But, it should be noted that the MLB drug policy was not even fully implemented until spring of 2006. So at the time A-Rod took his enhancement drugs they were not even against MLB policy yet. Just like many other players like Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Andy Pettite, and Roger Clemens just to name a few. My point here is WHY IS THIS A BIG DEAL? WHY? Why must Mark McGwire go into hiding and not feel he has to tell the truth? Why does Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens go on a ranting rage when ever asked to admit the truth? Why the Fuck do we Care?

All professional athletes use some kind of "performance enhancing" measure. Weather its legal or illegal. Sorry to ruin the fantasy that for years and years everyone did it naturally. They all took supplements that are legal or weren't made illegal at the time and they are all still doing it today. EVERY SINGLE PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE DOES SOMETHING TO ENHANCE PERFORMANCE!!!!! From something as small as working out extra hard, purchasing a personal trainer or coach that is more expensive than the other guys to taking stronger pain medicine to heal quicker. Whatever it is they all do it to be better than the next guy.

The rest of us are just plain amateur players ourselves who never made it to the big show and all we want to do is sit back and cry and whine about the jock you wish you were and why he is a punk for taking steroids. Why are you worried about someone who has made it to the big time and what they are doing? Even if all of us amateur players took steroids we still would not be anywhere close to half as good as these guys who are in the big leagues now.

Everyone makes a huge deal of this crap. Sorry to break the news but there is absolutely no "sanctity" of any professional sport. There never has been and there never will be. These guys are not role models nor do many of them claim or want to be. We as average amateur "wanna be" players spend hundreds and in some cases thousands and thousands of dollars for jerseys and memorabilia for someone jerk off who entertains us for a couple of hours a day. They are just playing a game..that's all its is and all it ever will be. Just plain old entertaining games that we wish our fat asses could still play. The more we put these guys on a pedestal and praise them and try to make them god like freaks, the harder it is for the younger kids and some adults to see them fall. So my solution. STOP PUTTING THEM ON A PEDESTAL AND ENJOY THE GOD DAMN GAME!!!!
